Deputies identify woman found dead in Rowan County house fire

ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. — Deputies said a woman’s body was found in a house fire Thursday afternoon in Rowan County.

Officials were called just before 2 p.m. to a fire at a home on Crestwood Drive in China Grove. Deputies said once the fire was put out and first responders were able to safely search the home, the body was found.

Authorities identified the victim as 66-year-old Deborah Deadmon. Officers said Deadmond had significant health issues and used bottled oxygen.

The Rowan County Fire Marshal’s Office and the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office are investigating. Officials said they do not suspect foul play.
