Body found in woods identified as missing Union County man

WINGATE, N.C. — Deputies are investigating after the body of a missing Union County man was found Tuesday afternoon.

The Union County Sheriff’s Office said they found the body of 33-year-old Joshua Allen near the intersection of Santana Road and Monroe Ansonville Road, which is outside of Wingate.

Deputies said a man driving a dump truck called 911 after his truck broke down and he pulled off the roadway near the area where the body was discovered.

Authorities have not said how Allen died.

Allen was reported missing to the Marshville Police Department about two weeks ago on Jan. 25.
