CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Bank of America announced Wednesday that it is hiring 45 bankers in North and South Carolina to help small business owners.
In a statement released by the bank, it said the hires are part of a larger, nationwide plan to hire 1,000 small business bankers by mid-2012.
"Today, we're proud to announce that small businesses in the Carolinas will have access to a new level of expertise to help them grow and thrive," said Steve Turner, Southeast region sales executive for Bank of America. "By working with one of our small business bankers, small businesses will have more resources to help them better manage their cash flow so they can run their businesses more efficiently."
In North Carolina, Bank of America will hire 32 people, including 12 in the Charlotte area, eight in the Triangle area, and five in the Piedmont Triad.
In South Carolina, the company said it would hire 13 bankers, including four in Charleston and three in both Columbia and the Greenville-Spartanburg area.
According to the U.S. Small Business Administration, there are more than 1 million small businesses in the Carolinas. In North Carolina, small business represents 98 percent of all employers and nearly 1.6 million employees. In South Carolina, small business represents over 97 percent of all employers.
