Boil advisory lifted in Chester after water main breaks

CHESTER, S.C. — A boil-water advisory has been lifted for customers in the northern part of Chester after a pair of major water main breaks.

The city issued the advisory after the water main breaks resulted in a service interruption. It is affecting around 900 active water customers in northern Chester and Industrial Park areas. The advisory stayed in effect until bacteriological test results were received.

Customers in both areas were without water service while repairs were finalized. Parkway Drive in Chester was closed during the repairs.

Officials lifted the advisory on Monday afternoon after the water passed testing.

Some customers may still have discolored water over the next few days and should flush their faucets until the water runs clear. Any severely discolored water should be reported by calling 803-385-5123.
