California Gov. Gavin Newsom is making a stop in Union and Lancaster Counties this week.
Union County Democratic Party is holding the event, which will be attended by North Carolina Democratic Party Chair Anderson Clayton with Newsom as a special guest. It also mentions that Judge Toby Hampson, Judge Christine Walcyze, Braxton Winston of the NC AFL-CIO, and other candidates will be in attendance.
The event will be on Saturday from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Union Agricultural and Event Complex in Monroe.
ABC 10, an affiliate in Sacramento, said Newsom’s visit is part of his “TAKE IT BACK” tour. He’s traveling through Alabama, South Carolina and North Carolina for four days, and plans to stop in more than 10 counties. It says he is focusing on voting rights, congressional redistricting and civil rights.
The South Carolina Democratic Party said Newsom also plans to visit Lancaster County on Friday at 4 p.m.
