CHARLOTTE — The Carolina Panthers and the NFL’s other 31 teams continue to post remarkable annual financial gains as a new season begins. The latest evidence arrived Wednesday as Forbes and CNBC released franchise valuations.

Both ranked the Panthers at No. 26; CNBC values the team at $8.85 billion, up 38% from a year ago, while Forbes puts the valuation slightly lower at $8.1 billion, 42% higher than 2025.

The two business media outlets, along with trade publication Sportico, have become brand names in the realm of estimating sports franchise values and assembling estimates of each team’s financial performance. Sportico published its annual valuations last month, ranking Carolina 26th among 32 teams with an estimated value of $8.07 billion.

Panthers owner David Tepper, with a personal fortune estimated at $24 billion, bought the Panthers and Bank of America Stadium in 2018 for an inflation-adjusted price of $3 billion. That means the franchise has more than doubled in value over eight years.
