HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — The Birkdale Village mixed-use development in Huntersville is under new ownership.

Cincinnati-based North American Properties and Nuveen Real Estate now own the property, at Sam Furr Road and Birkdale Commons Parkway, after a deal that closed Friday. Birkdale Village includes 250,000 square feet of retail, 320 apartments and 50,000 square feet of office space.
NAP and Nuveen plan a range of investments at the property, including events and programming, new merchandising and renovations at the apartments. NAP will oversee property management and leasing.
“Birkdale has a great physical presence there today but it just needs to be refreshed and brought back to a new relevance for today’s world,” said Tim Perry, managing partner at North American Properties.
