CHARLOTTE — A Charlotte woman accused of healthcare fraud was sentenced to prison.

Federal prosecutors say Crystal Jackson was an addiction specialist.
They say she submitted roughly $2 million in bogus claims to Medicaid for drug testing and other services she never performed or which were already paid for.
In a statement, U.S. Attorney Russ Ferguson said, “Medicaid fraud is a crime on all of us – it steals taxpayer money,” and ”makes healthcare more expensive.”
North Carolina Attorney General Jeff Jackson said, “The only acceptable level of Medicaid fraud is zero.”
And Action 9 attorney Jason Stoogenke spoke with FBI Special Agent in Charge Reid Davis on Friday about the case and healthcare fraud, in general.
“We’ve got to make sure the risk outweighs the reward of the program to prevent these people from defrauding the taxpayers,” Davis said.
Jackson pleaded guilty in March.
She was sentenced to 48 months behind bars, and she must pay restitution.
