Charlotte Checkers’ 2022-23 schedule announced, home opener set for Oct. 14

CHARLOTTE — Hockey fans need to mark their calendars: The Charlotte Checkers have announced their full schedule for the 2022-23 American Hockey League Season.

Included in the 72-game schedule is the team’s opening weekend at Bojangles Coliseum against the Hartford Wolf Pack on Oct. 14-15. Together with the following weekend’s games against Hershey, the Checkers, who had not started a season at home in 11 previous AHL seasons, will play their first four games in Charlotte.

Fans will have plenty of opportunities to see the defending Atlantic Division champions on weekend dates, too. Of the 36 home games, 23 land on a Friday or Saturday, plus another four take place on Sunday.

New this season — four of the Saturday home dates will feature a 4 p.m. puck drop.

In addition, the schedule features a group of games around Thanksgiving. After starting the holiday week with games on Monday and Wednesday against Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, the Checkers will host the Utica Comets for a 4 p.m. Black Friday contest the day after Thanksgiving before finishing up the run with a rematch on Saturday.

The team will also host several games ahead of the Christmas break, including matchups with Rochester on Dec. 16-17 and Providence on Dec. 22-23.

Individual game tickets will go on sale Aug. 16.

Additional promotions and special events will be announced in the coming weeks.
