Charlotte Fire Dept. collects school supplies in honor of child who died in house fire

CHARLOTTE — Channel 9′s School Tools collection is one of the ways that we full fulfill our promise to serve our community, but we can’t do that without the community’s help.

This year, the Charlotte Fire Department is accepting donations for our drive in honor of Dominque Morrison’s son, Michael.

Michael died in a house fire, but despite her grief, Dominique is carrying the memory of her son by teaching children about fire prevention.

“I just wanted to get out there in the community, make a change, and make a difference and let them know it’s not just my child that this can happen to. It could happen to anyone’s child,” Dominique said.

If you can donate to students in need, we want to see you during a special School Tools Collection at Channel 9′s studios. The collection event will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 17th, at 235 W. 23rd Street.
