CHARLOTTE — A Charlotte firefighter was arrested and charged after a domestic violence call on Friday.
According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, Randall Isaac Kennedy, 25, was arrested for assault on a female.
Police said at 5 a.m. Friday, they responded to a domestic violence call. Kennedy and Yamina Bernice Oliver, 18, told police they were involved in an altercation with each other.
During the altercation, both told police they were assaulted. Kennedy was arrested on scene, and after gathering additional information officers obtained a warrant for the arrest of Oliver. She was charged with assault.
In a statement released Saturday, the Charlotte Fire Department said: "Upon notification of his arrest the Charlotte Fire Department immediately took Randall off duty. Pending results of the investigation appropriate discipline will be administered. The Charlotte Fire Department takes these charges very seriously. We hold all our employees to a high standard and immediate action was taken following the arrest."
