West Charlotte motel that helped people find affordable housing has closed

CHARLOTTE — A west Charlotte motel that has helped people find affordable housing has now closed.

The general manager said she has not been able to recover financially from losses during the early stages of COVID-19 lockdowns.

The GM said she feared this day would come for more than a year.

In the video at the top of this webpage, a woman with a group helping former residents at the Southern Comfort Inn says the city could have done more to help.
