CHARLOTTE — For only the third time in more than three decades, the Charlotte Motor Speedway will not play host to the NASCAR All-Star Race next spring.
That’s one of several changes revealed with the release of NASCAR’s 2021 schedule this week, along with the addition of multiple road courses as well as a dirt-track race.
The All-Star Race will be held at Texas Motor Speedway for the first time on June 13, 2021. The event was moved to Bristol Motor Speedway from Charlotte this year, with executives citing Covid-19 trends. Locally based Speedway Motorsports Inc. owns both the Texas and Bristol tracks as well as the Charlotte facility.
Two of the sport’s top-tier Cup Series events are staying here: the Coca-Cola 600 on May 30, 2021, and the Bank of America Roval 600 on Oct. 10, 2021.
