CHARLOTTE — A Charlotte non-profit is taking a new step to help protect renters.

The Charlotte Center for Legal Advocacy says it is adding to its Housing Justice Program.

It will be representing renters who are about to lose their homes and it will go after landlords who break the law by using illegal tactics and charging certain fees.

The non-profit provides other assistance to those in need, including children who are caught in intense custody battles.
