HICKORY, N.C. — A child has died after drowning at Bruce Meisner Park in Hickory on Wednesday night.
Police, fire, and EMS responded to the area just before 7 p.m.
Crews told Channel 9 that they were called to a drowning involving a 7-year-old boy but were able to get him out of the water.
The boy was then escorted by an ambulance to an area hospital but ultimately died.
Channel 9 is still working to gather more details. The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office confirmed they are investigating.
