Chocolate bars and brownies: Traffic stop leads to drug bust in Lincolnton

LINCOLNTON, N.C. — A traffic stop for a minor violation led to a drug bust and an arrest for the possession of illegal drugs on Saturday, the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office said.

The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office charged 34-year-old Sean Ryder Kenna with one felony count of possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver a controlled substance.

He was also charged with failing to maintain lane control.

Police say Deputy R. D. Richard was monitoring the area near Exit 20 of U.S. Highway 321 when a sedan passed his patrol car.

He pulled out behind the vehicle because he was unable to confirm if Kenna was wearing a seatbelt. After Kenna drifted over the fog line, Richard pulled the vehicle over.

Officials say the deputy was able to smell marijuana coming  from the car while checking the Kenna's license and registration. Richard inspected the vehicle and found 81 clear plastic packages containing opaque waxy mass and 60 edible baked goods in a cooler.

The deputy recognized the waxy mass to be marijuana extract and the edible baked goods as marijuana infused chocolate bars and brownies.

Kenna is being held in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $30,000 bond and is expected to appear in court on Monday.

A female passenger was not charged, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office.
