City Council to vote on contact for new hanger for CMPD’s ‘Snoopy’

CHARLOTTE — Snoopy is getting a new home.

Charlotte City Council will vote Monday on a $15.2 million contract to build a new hangar for CMPD’s helicopter, ‘Snoopy.’

Right now, CMPD leases a hangar at Charlotte Douglas International Airport, but it is in conflict with future development plans on the airfield.

Two years ago, the city purchased land for a new hangar on Woodridge Center Drive on the north side of Billy Graham Parkway.

It will have more room for CMPD special operations units and dedicated space for simulator training.
