CHARLOTTE — Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Chief Estella Patterson is set to brief city leaders about recent violence in a meeting Monday afternoon.
The Safety Committee meeting comes off the heels of a particularly violent weekend in late October. At least eight people were shot, including four who died from their injuries, in five separate shootings.
The committee’s goal is to make the community safer.
Leaders are also expecting an update from the Mecklenburg County’s Office of Violence Prevention, which works to prevent harm and support victims through partnerships.
The meeting will be held at 1 p.m. at the Government Center in Uptown.
