Man arrested for fatally shooting another man inside west Charlotte arcade

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police have arrested a man for fatally shooting another man late Friday night at a west Charlotte arcade.

The shooting happened just before 9 p.m. at the Fish Hut Arcade on Wilkinson Boulevard.

Officials said 35-year-old Durrell Fuller was found shot inside the business and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Akinto Boone, 49, was arrested Saturday and charged with first-degree murder.

Authorities have not said what led up to the shooting.

Charlotte has seen a recent surge in homicides, which police said is very frustrating.

“It’s incredibly difficult, frankly. We’re tired of coming to these scenes. Really, this is the kind of senseless violence that our community should be outraged by,” Maj. Allan Rutledge said.

Friday night’s homicide marks the 66th so far in Charlotte this year. At this time last year, the city had slightly few cases with 62 homicides and last year was one of the deadliest on record.
