2 teens charged after man shot to death in southwest Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said two 16-year-old boys have been charged after a man was shot to death Wednesday night in southwest Charlotte.

Officers were called just before 10 p.m. to a shooting on Farmhurst Drive. When they got there, police said they found 21-year-old Jevon Ayala who had been shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives have arrested two 16-year-olds in connection with his death. They were both charged with murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon and possession of a firearm by a minor. One of them was also charged with carrying a concealed weapon.

Ayala’s death marks Charlotte’s 96th homicide of the year.
