Community provides feedback on CMS superintendent search

CHARLOTTE — The search firm assisting the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Board of Education with its superintendent search hosted 28 community forums across the county in 48 hours.

One of those meetings was held Thursday night at Reeder Memorial Baptist Church near Beatties Ford Road.

It was the second go-around seeking community feedback.

School board Vice Chair Stephanie Sneed said the district learned there were pockets of the community that were not included.

“We didn’t get a significant amount of responses from the crescent neighborhoods, the far east neighborhoods,” Sneed said.

Percy Mack, with the search firm BWP and Associates, said the feedback will have a direct impact on candidates that are selected for interviews.

“That’s what we’re going to use to create a profile,” Mack said.

It’s a heap of feedback Sneed said may be a challenge to fully capture.

“We’re going to try to get as close as we can to what the community wants,” Sneed said.
