Man missing from south Charlotte found safe, police say

CHARLOTTE — A 30-year-old man missing in south Charlotte was found safe, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

Detectives and crews from the Charlotte Fire Department were searching Wednesday night for Davonte Ponder, an autistic and non-verbal man.

Ponder was found safe and reunited with his family, CMPD said after midnight on Thursday.

A Silver Alert was issued for Ponder, who was described as a Black man with a slim build who walks hunched over.

He was last seen on Beritstrasse Court near the Providence Country Club in south Charlotte around 4 p.m.
