CHARLOTTE — A teen curfew goes into effect in Charlotte starting this weekend.
CMPD hopes it will help curb youth violence and teen takeovers that have happened across our area this year.
Starting Sunday, anyone under 18 would have to be inside from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m.

There are some exceptions, like work, school events, and religious activities.
Right now it is just a pilot program. It runs through next August.
Mecklenburg County Sheriff Garry McFadden is sharing his concerns about a violent weekend across Charlotte. Five people were killed, and two of the victims were teens.
“We cannot accept this as normal. We cannot wait until violence reaches our own family or community before we get involved,” McFadden said.
Police have only made one arrest across the four shootings.
