CHARLOTTE — The Charlotte Regional Transportation Planning Organization board voted to reinstate a resolution requesting that NCDOT move forward with a public-private partnership delivery process for the I-77 South Express Lanes Project.
Only Matthews and Mecklenburg County voted against the motion.
Matthews Mayor John Higdon resigned from the CRTPO board following the vote.
Higdon cited what he called unconstitutional state interference and concerns about the $300 million community amenities package tied to the project.
The vote clears another step for the I-77 South Express Lanes project to move forward through the P3 process.
