Deputies: Salisbury police officer charged with assaulting woman in Rowan County

ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. — A Salisbury police officer was arrested just after midnight Wednesday in Rowan County for a domestic violence incident, deputies said.

Michael Scroggs was charged with misdemeanor assault on a female. He was off-duty at the time of the incident.

Scroggs has been with the Salisbury Police Department since 2021. Once he’s released on bond, the department said he will be placed on administrative leave with pay.

Salisbury police said it is cooperating with Rowan County deputies on the investigation.

No other details have been released.
