Deputies searching for man after Cookout robbed

STANLEY, N.C. — Lincoln County Sheriff's deputies and detectives are investigating a Sunday morning armed robbery at the Cookout Restaurant at 7519 Highway 73 in Stanley.

The robbery happened around 7 a.m.

Police said an armed man dressed in all black entered the restaurant after shooting out the glass in the door with a handgun and opening it. The robber forced the store manager to open the safe and turn over the contents.

Police said the man was is about 5 feet 10 inches tall with a slender build.

He fled the scene in a red, late model four-door Honda Civic.
