CMPD declares shooting ‘justified’ months after man killed in north Charlotte

CHARLOTTE — Police have classified a shooting that left one man dead in north Charlotte in April as a “justified homicide.”

According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, the shooting happened on April 1, just after 9 p.m. on McArthur Avenue, just off Atando Avenue.

CMPD identified the victim as 28-year-old Harry Marquis Brown.

Months later, CMPD declared the shooting as a “justified homicide,” but did not give an explanation why.

Authorities said the Mecklenburg County District Attorney’s Office reviewed the case and agreed with CMPD’s decision to not charge anyone.

No other information has been released about the shooting.
