Developer breaks ground on apartment project in lower South End

CHARLOTTE — One of the most active multifamily developers in the Charlotte region has broken ground on its latest project here, a 310-unit, market-rate apartment community in the lower South End area.

The NRP Group is developing the five-story complex, called South Tryon, at 3310 S. Tryon St., just north of Clanton Road. The site is a little more than half a mile from either the Lynx Blue Line’s New Bern Station or the Scaleybark Station.

South Tryon will have a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, including some units with den floor plans to accommodate post-pandemic, work-from-home trends, according to a press release. Amenities will include a movie and fitness center, co-working area, indoor bike room, club room and social area, dog wash and park, swimming pool, courtyards and an outdoor dining and cooking area.
