Developer buys land near NoDa for affordable-housing project

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A developer with a pipeline of affordable-housing projects in Charlotte has secured land for another.

Cleveland-based NRP Group recently acquired 9.9 acres at Sugar Creek Road and North Tryon Street for $2.75 million. The site will be home to an affordable-housing project including 188 units for residents earning between 30% and 80% of the area median income.

Charlotte City Council approved a rezoning petition from NRP in March to allow up to 200 affordable-housing units at the site.
