Suspects in ‘Duffle Bag Boyz’ case appear in court

COLUMBIA, S.C. — The suspects in the so-called “Duffle Bag Boyz” case appeared before a judge in Columbia, South Carolina, Thursday morning.

They’re among 25 people indicted in the case centered around Lancaster and Chester counties. Prosecutors say the operation involved drug trafficking, including that of fentanyl, cocaine and meth, as well as dogfighting.

In court, Channel 9 learned some of the defendants are already serving prison sentences on unrelated charges.

According to prosecutors, one defendant Koricko Cunningham is out on bond in a separate murder case. When officers searched his house in this case, they say they found a drug press, guns and 15 dogs suspected of being used for fighting.

Another suspect, Zion Hairiston, was the “center” of the case, according to prosecutors. They say he was the facilitator connecting buyers with drug dealers.

The judge did not immediately rule on bond in any of the cases.
