Downed power lines shut down north Charlotte road; outages reported

CHARLOTTE — Downed power lines shut down a north Charlotte road Tuesday morning after a crash brought down a power pole.

The crash happened at around 4:30 a.m. on Trinity Road at Beatties Ford Road and involved just one car.

Trinity Road was shut down to protect drivers from the live lines in the road. A Channel 9 crew could see the lines sparking in the road.

Duke Energy reported 478 power outages in the area at 6 a.m., but estimated they would be restored by 8:30 a.m.

Charlotte DOT crews set up barricades as investigators worked.

No injuries were reported.

Duke Energy crews arrived at about 6 a.m. to assess the damage and start restoring power in the area.
