CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A driver has been charged after the death of a man involved in a crash with a CATS bus, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said.
Benjamin Davis died Thursday as a result of injuries suffered in a Nov. 24 crash on Oaklawn Avenue. Police said Brandon Crew was driving a Dodge Stratus when he drove out of his lane and into oncoming traffic.
Crew hit Charlotte Area Transit System Bus No. 1064 head on, police said. Crew suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries. A third passenger had minor injuries. Davis was in the passenger seat of the Dodge Stratus.
Police said there were three passengers with the bus driver on the CATS bus. The passengers suffered minor injuries.
Crew was arrested on Tuesday. He was charged with involuntary manslaughter, reckless driving and a violation of license restrictions.
Speed appears to be a factor in the crash, authorities said.
