Man killed after running red light in Rock Hill, police say

ROCK HILL, S.C. — A man is dead after two vehicles collided in Rock Hill Monday afternoon, police said.

Officers responded to the scene just before 4 p.m. at the intersection of Old York Road and Pennington Road, where they found 34-year-old Christopher Powell lying on the ground. EMS confirmed he died at the scene.

Two people in the other vehicle had minor injuries, but officials said they did not need any medical treatment.

Investigators said Powell had run a red light and was hit by an SUV. He was then thrown from the vehicle due to the impact of the crash.

No other details have been released at this point.
