CHARLOTTE — The Carolina Panthers are letting go of defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero.
ESPN first reported the news Friday morning after the Panthers’ primetime loss to the Green Bay Packers Thursday night.
Evero has been with the Panthers since 2023, when he was hired under former head coach Frank Reich. Evero was retained when Reich was fired and replaced by current head coach Dave Canales.
Earlier this year, Canales said Evero had been signed to a contract extension.
The Panthers have given up 2,447 yards and 23 touchdowns so far this season, and they’ve had the worst run defense in the league through Week 8, giving up 153 rushing yards per game.
Defensive line coach Todd Wash has been named interim defensive coordinator, the team announced. Outside linebackers coach AC Carter will help coach the defensive line.
The team also announced it was parting ways with passing game coordinator Jonathan Cooley.
The Panthers are 3-4 after the Green Bay loss.
