CHARLOTTE — The fallout continues after the discovery of a yearslong text chain containing racist and sexist messages between six Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department officers.
We’re told the entire department is currently under a lot of scrutiny.
This week, CMPD Chief Estella Patterson confirmed that she cited six officers for termination because of their involvement in a text message scandal that used racist, sexist, and inappropriate religious language.
The incident has some officers feeling like they are under siege.
Fonda Bryant has worked with CMPD for years on suicide prevention and mental health wellness issues.
She says these are tough times for officers.
Three of those officers have resigned and three more may go the the Civil Service Board and try to keep their jobs.
