STANLY COUNTY, N.C. — An Albemarle attorney is the center of a federal trial after investigators said he had hundreds of pictures and videos of child pornography.
Authorities raided Trevor Huck's home, which is near Albemarle High School, after getting a search warrant on May 30.
"That's just very shocking, very shocking," Albemarle resident Daren Bennett said.
Investigators at the Stanly County Sheriff's Office used forensic equipment they got with a grant and worked with the SBI's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Once they realized how big the case was, they got federal investigators involved.
"It's the amount of evidence, but it's also the amount of material that was found," Sheriff George Burris said.
Channel 9 obtained copies of the federal court documents that show investigators seized a desktop computer with three hard drives and two 32-gigabyte thumb drives.
The Stanly County Sheriff's Office initially charged Huck with 27 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor. He bonded out of the Stanly County jail.
Deputies later served Huck with two federal indictments for receiving and possessing child porn. They took him to Winston-Salem where he'll be held in federal custody.
