Fine rises on South Carolina ‘slow poke’ bill as it advances through legislation

COLUMBIA, S.C. — In South Carolina, a bill to increase fines for drivers going too slow in the left-hand lane is moving through the legislature.

The bill was advanced by a Senate subcommittee on Tuesday and is now going to the Senate Transportation Committee.

The bill now raises the fine for driving too slowly in the left lane from $25 to $100, and most of the money will go back to the state highway patrol.

The fines will apply to drivers on interstates and multi-lane highways.
