Firefighters investigating west Charlotte shed fire after person found dead

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Firefighters are investigating a deadly fire in west Charlotte late Friday night.

It happened just before 11:30 p.m. on Archer Avenue, which is off Clanton Road.

When firefighters got to the area, they found a shed with heavy flames showing near the back of the house.

During a search, firefighters found one person dead inside the shed. That person has not been identified.

Authorities have not said what caused the fire, but they said it was deemed accidental and caused around $15,000 in damages to the shed and house.

Officials said one other person was displaced because of the blaze and is staying with family members.

No other information has been released.
