CABARRUS COUNTY, N.C. — Cabarrus County fire investigators said a house in Mount Pleasant was empty when a fire broke out early Tuesday morning.
A passerby noticed the flames coming from the home on Gold Hill Road, off Highway 49, around 3:45 a.m.
Smoke from the fire mixed with foggy conditions, forcing fire crews to work in visibility conditions of about 5 feet.
There was no word on what started the fire or how much damage it caused.
