Forest service officer receives posthumous honor

BURKE COUNTY, N.C. — A U.S. Forest Service officer killed in the line of duty is being honored.

Wednesday, the agency awarded Officer Jason Crisp for his display of bravery and commitment to uphold public safety. Crisp and his K9 partner were killed in the line of duty in March.

Crisp's name has been added to a memorial at the Burke County Courthouse. A ranger station has also been named after him.
