Fred brings flooding, washed out roads, downed power lines to NC mountains

AVERY COUNTY, N.C. — The North Carolina mountains saw major damage from Fred after storms ripped through the area and drenched the region for hours on Tuesday.

Avery County took the brunt of the storm, with everything from downed power lines to washed out roads and trees into homes.
