SOUTH CAROLINA — In South Carolina, a statewide curfew will be in place on Halloween for child sex offenders.

The state Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services says the curfew will be from 5:30 to 9 p.m.

Officials say it applies to people on probation, parole or other forms of supervision for sex offenses involving children.

They must remain indoors at home, keep porch and exterior lights off, and refrain from distributing candy.

The state says supervised child sex offenders will be under surveillance checks conducted by agents during home visits.

According to the state, there are 912 registered sex offenders under active supervision as of Sept. 30. You can see where sex offenders are near you at this link.
