CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. — Residents who live on St. Peters Church Road, north of Hickory, are concerned about the trash piling up outside a home, which has a collapsed roof.
Neighbors said they see people coming and going from the house that doesn’t have power.
Scott Houston works right next door building custom cabinets and has asked the county for help, but he hasn’t heard back.
“It’s just a complete eyesore to the public, not to mention the clients and customers that come into my business,” he said. “Something needs to be done.”
Channel 9’s Dave Faherty checked public records and learned the property was purchased in October 2025 by Catawba Property Development for $35,000.
Faherty is reaching out to Catawba County officials about possible code violations. Inspectors will be at the property on Thursday.
