Highly acclaimed restaurant to host charity event

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — One of Charlotte’s best-known new restaurants is hosting an event on Martin Luther King Jr. Day to benefit a local nonprofit organization. Leah & Louise’s “Pay What You Can Soup Kitchen” will take place on Monday, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Camp North End.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Heal Charlotte, whose charity work ranges from after-school programs and youth mentoring to food and rent assistance to fostering relationships between the community, police and elected officials.

The event will take place outdoors at the sprawling Camp North End development near uptown, with multiple high-profile local chefs participating.
