CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The sale of the historic Excelsior Club to a California buyer was terminated, said Dan Morrill, director of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Historic Landmarks Commission.

The club on Beatties Ford Road was a popular spot for African-Americans since the 1940s.
The club closed in 2016 and has been abandoned since.
It's not clear what will happen to the club now.
