Iredell County drug operation targets over 75 wanted suspects (Iredell County Sheriff's Offi)

IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. — Iredell County deputies launched a large-scale narcotics operation Tuesday after a long investigation identified more than 75 wanted suspects accused of distributing and trafficking drugs.

The operation is a result of hundreds of hours of investigation by multiple units. Officials say they used undercover operations, traffic stops, surveillance, and other tactics to gather information for the case.

Deputies say they’ve already seized about 113 grams of meth, 24 grams of cocaine, narcotics pills and drug paraphernalia.

“Narcotics activity often has a direct connection to other crimes, and dismantling these networks is a critical part of reducing crime and keeping our communities safe,” Iredell County Sheriff Darren Campbell said in a release.

The sheriff’s office said arrest efforts will continue until all identified suspects have been taken into custody. Channel 9 is asking how many people have been arrested so far.
