‘It’s a violation of trust’: Dallas man accused of setting up camera in bathroom to spy on child

Kevin Seawall (Gaston County Police Department)

DALLAS, N.C. — A Gaston County man is facing felony charges after police say he set up a hidden camera to spy on a child in the bathroom.

Police said Kevin Seawell was renting a room at a home on Dallas Cherryville Highway. They said the victim noticed the camera when they got out of the shower. That’s when the child and the other adults in the home went to the police.

“You have to trust the people that are living with you,” Gaston County Police Department Sgt. Josh Hamlin said. “The victim is upset. It’s a violation of trust, finding a camera in the bathroom to record you.”

Sewall is charged with secret peeping and indecent liberties with a minor.

He is scheduled to face a judge later this month, but police said the investigation is ongoing.
