Jail cell

CHARLOTTE — Judge Keith Smith has denied bond for a Charlotte man accused of robbing a jewelry store at gunpoint.

Police said Tyree Belk robbed Whitewater Diamonds last July on Mount Holly-Huntersville Road.

Court documents say Belk put a gun to the owner’s back and forced him to fill a bag with $80,000 worth of rings and watches.

Investigators said Belk was wearing a wig and mask, which officers later found both in a nearby dumpster.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officers made the arrest after reviewing surveillance video of the getaway car.
