MORGANTON, N.C. — Crews rescued three kayakers Wednesday night from the Johns River in Morganton after their vessels capsized, officials said.
Emergency crews responded to the Huffman Bridge access area on Antioch Road after the three men made it to a nearby riverbank and called 911.
“Practice some common sense out here,” a fire official on scene said. "If you know the floodwaters are high, it may not be the best time to get out here on the waterways.”
No injuries were reported.
