King of Fire is a slice above the rest

YORK COUNTY, S.C. — What started out as a side hustle has grown into a booming fulltime business for a couple in Fort Mill.

Siler Chapman grew up working in a pizza shop owned by his best friend’s family. He was working as a restaurant consultant when he convinced his wife Amber that they should cater weddings and private events after he found a mobile wood-fired pizza oven.

Now Siler Chapman is a three-time world pizza tossing champion, and the couple has five King of Fire pizza trucks which travel from neighborhood to neighborhood throughout south Charlotte and York County.

“We joke about it, we tell people, ‘Hey, you’re going to really fall in love with this particular pizza. It’s gonna change your life,’” Siler Chapman said. “That’s our saying on the truck: ‘It’s gonna change your life.’ And if it doesn’t, we’ll give you whatever else you want.”

King of Fire offers several traditional pizzas, along with a few unique ones such as the Fiesta Pie and their staple, the Honey Pie, which is a pepperoni pizza with red pepper flakes and honey drizzled on top.

“The way the honey melts, it no longer tastes like honey, so it’s like a sweet and spicy but it’s the perfect balance … and everyone falls in love with it,” Amber Chapman said.
